Special Care Neighborhood
Quality of life is of key importance to the families of the those who have been diagnosed with dementia (i.e. Alzheimer's). It is our intention on the Special Care Unit to offer the security and the loving personal attention needed. This neighborhood is secured at all times and residents are allowed to leave this area only with supervision. Meals are served in a home-like atmosphere with a dining room specially catered for this neighborhood.
Group and individual activities such as reminiscing about the past, listening to familiar music, and socializing with others are designed to stimulate thinking and enhance mental capacity.
The resident rooms are decorated with room identifiers to assist with resident orientation to their surroundings. Rooms and dining facilities are cozy with wooded floors and a calming color scheme of pastels.
Kitchenettes are located on every unit for supervised cooking or for the availability of personalized meals suited to individual schedules when structured dining is not suitable to meet an resident's preference on a particular day. |
