Skilled Nursing Neighborhood

The focus of this neighborhood is the acute clinical care of short- and long-term residents. Many of these residents have come directly to The Gables after being discharged from the hospital and need additional professional medical care prior to returning to their normal lifestyles. Others need daily medical attention that must be administered by clinical personnel. Only companion rooms are found in this wing, allowing medical staff the space needed to properly assist several residents more efficiently.

Rehabilitation is a priority for short-term residents. Physical, speech and occupational therapy sessions are supervised by professionals trained to assist residents who are recovering from trauma, such as heart failure, strokes, personal injury, and joint replacements. These sessions are conducted in a therapy center that is equipped with assistive devices designed to improve daily living. These residents are encouraged to get involved in the daily planned activities at The Gables that will further their rehabilitative program and get them "back on their feet."

Respite and hospice care are also available in this neighborhood. Respite care is that care needed for an overnight or short-term stay associated with residents whose daytime home care provider (often their children) may be on vacation or need a short reprieve involving temporary care.

Hospice care is that designed for terminally ill patients in need of comfort care. The Gables at Green Pastures is very focused on pain management, also a philosophy behind hospice care.
